Be the someone who makes you happy

Happy Valentine’s Day, beauties! We wanted to dedicate our post this week to you. Only you.
If you are familiar with Mullein & Sparrow, you know that our brand is rooted in Ayurveda and we approach health and wellness holistically. We believe that true and authentic beauty naturally unfolds from pure formulas and superior, effective ingredients. We seek to nurture the mind, body and spirit as a pathway to inner and outer beauty--starting by bringing the purest botanicals directly to your skin.
In Ayurveda, there is a ritual called the dinacharya: a daily routine that emphasizes awakening before sunrise, mediation and prayer, pranayama (breath), oil pulling, oil massaging (abhyanga), yoga and more...all before your morning coffee. Realistically, unless you are on a Costa Rican retreat or are better than us at resisting your snooze button, it is almost unfathomable to incorporate all these beautiful rituals into your daily life. So, to help you give yourself the gift of self-care this Valentine’s Day, we’ve highlighted a few important practices you can easily begin today.
Set aside time for yourself.
Perhaps this looks like a 15-minute morning meditation or gentle yoga practice. Maybe it’s sitting and breathing for five. Maybe a relaxing bath is your idea of personal paradise (it’s certainly ours!). Whatever it is that speaks to your heart, do that. You deserve a little you time.
Practice abhyanga.
Abhyanga is the ayurvedic tradition of massaging the body with warm oil. Essentially it is a moving meditation, one that leaves the skin lusciously soft and glowing. The healing power of your own touch will instantly place your mind and your heart in harmony. Take five minutes after you bathe to breathe deeply and treat your skin with a blossom-based body oil, a soothing facial serum, and bask in a few blissful moments of being present with your body and your soul.
Honor your truth.
Nourish your spirit with the love and pampering you deserve. Remember the old adage that you attract the kind of love you think you deserve? It’s true. Know your worth and own it. Be your own special someone and pay attention to how you are feeling, what you like and what you want. Do it for you.
Wishing you all the love this Valentine’s Day!
