Because Body Care is the New Skin Care

As the warm summer air slowly and apprehensively rolls in, we eagerly shed our winter layers in turn for a fresh, airy wardrobe. During the winter months it's pretty easy to fall into the routine of neglect when we have layers of clothes to hide under. It’s completely normal- I only have one friend who actually shaves her legs no matter the weather- most of us get away with what we can until we actually have to put on a skirt or a pair of shorts.
..
But summer is around the bend and having that irresistibly soft, healthy, hydrated, summer ready skin no longer feels optional. We want our face and body to look healthy and vibrant this summer-- which is why body care is not a step to be skipped. And when your skin is healthy and nourished, its not only noticeable, its downright alluring.
.
While there are many steps to be taken to ensure your skin is ready for fresh air and sunlight (and we’re going to go address all of them through our summer blogs on Body Care) today I’d like to talk to you about the first step: Winter Skin Detox. If you’re familiar with our line of products, your mind may immediately jump to our Detox Bath Salts, but, that’s not what I’m going to talk about today. Sure, the detox bath salts are absolutely wonderful for deep, muscular relief and the essential oils will ensure that you sweat out a lot of the pollutants that need releasing. But, today I want to really focus more on your SKIN itself and how to bring it to its luminous best this summer and that is by using our Facial Steam as a bath soak. This incredible blend of organic and wild crafted herbs and flowers aren’t just meant for decongesting the pores on your face – they’re great for resurfacing and rejuvenating your entire body!

I want to highlight some of the remarkable ingredients the benefits of which are essential to gorgeous skin: Licorice Root, Calendula and Nettle. I included Licorice Root because its known for brightening dark spots, under eye circles and age spots – all great reasons to use it as a part of your face care, right? But its also great for skin elasticity, rosacea, eczema, psoriasis and hyperpigmentation. Consistent use of licorice extract over time has been known to fade dark spots and blemishes, and lighten hyperpigmentation for even skintone. It can also reverse darkening of scars, which are fibrous skin tissues that remain when an injury hasn't completely healed. I know photoshop exists, but, why not address the issue at its root with licorice root? =)
..
Then there’s Calendula- this little miracle worker is known for its healing properties. Besides being anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial and anti-oxidant rich, Calendula significantly boosts the appearance of your skin. It promotes blood flow to skin cells, reduces the appearance of wrinkles, age spots and scars. If you want smooth, even-toned skin that GLOWS, Calendula is a must-have for your skincare routine.
..
Lastly, nettles. This magical herb is more commonly known as a folk remedy, but those that are truly in the know are aware of its potent effect when used for beauty. Rich in vitamins, minerals, proteins and amino acids, your skin will revel in soaking up all that its missing by sitting a tub of nettle medicine. Nettle re-mineralizes and deeply nourishes your skin while also promoting even skin tone, its astringent properties soothe acne (Backne –back acne-, anyone?), and soothing eczema. Nettle is also known to promote hair growth, so don’t be shy about dunking your head in getting the soak all over your body head to toe.

Using this product in such an immersive way ensures that you receive the utmost benefit allover your body and if you’re ready for an even more hardcore winter detox, you can also use the steam as a tea.

Lastly, lets face it, sitting a bath tub full of flowers feels like something out of a dream- and after all- it is time for May flowers.
