“So you may not always have a comfortable life. And you will not always be able to solve all the world’s problems all at once. But don’t ever underestimate the impact you may have, because history has shown us that courage can be contagious, and hope can take on a life of its own.” -Michelle Obama
March 1st kicks off the beginning of Women’s History Month, recognizing the great contributions that women have made to our nation. In addition to this month-long celebration, we further recognize powerful women around the world by celebrating International Women’s Day on March 8th. Originating after the activities of labor movements at the turn of the 20th century in North America and Europe, it is a day to recognize the achievements of all women without regard to divisions -- whether national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic or political.
This years campaign theme is Press for Progress -- and for good reason, because according to the World Economic Forum’s 2017 Gender Gap Report, findings tell us that gender parity is over 200 years away. This is a call-to-action for organizations and individuals to press forward and advocate for gender equality. Let’s get to it, ladies!
We would say that we are excited to let our inner feminists shine through for the day, but let's be real, we do this every day. This day holds a special place for our team here at Mullein and Sparrow. We are female founded and operate with an all-female team. As a team of empowered, strong women, we want to be an example of how you can make a difference in your industry. While women are continuing to make strides as business leaders and entrepreneurs, we still face many obstacles that our male counterparts may not stumble upon. We are celebrating International Women’s Day by reflecting and appreciating our hard work ethic and perseverance through these obstacles that we continue to tackle every day. Through this, we will continue to uplift one another, set an example for future generations, and be successful businesswomen. We hope we inspire you to do the same.
